Friedrich Wilhelm5 Fritsch (Gottlieb6) was born in Ikohl, Prussia circa 1818. Friedrich died in Lubbin, Prussia on December 2, 1860. He had only arrived back in Prussia four weeks earlier, and had become at Hotelkeeper. Friedrich was buried on December 4, 1860 in Lubbin, Prussia.

He married twice. Friedrich Wilhelm Fritsch married Johanna Dorothea Uebergang in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia.Johanna Dorothea Uebergang was born in 1829 in Merzdorf, Silesia, Prussia. Tortie was the daughter of Carl Samuel Uebergang and Anna Rosina Karge. Tortie died at the Fritsche home in Dry Lake, Wangoom, Victoria, Australia on February 11, 1858. Tortie was buried on February 12, 1858 at the Public Cemetery in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. Occupation: Servant-Girl. Johanna Dorothea Uebergang immigrated aboard the 'Wappaus' to the Port Phillip District on March 7, 1849. Friedrich Wilhelm Fritsch married Caroline Auguste Kiefel in Wangoom, Victoria, Australia on February 7, 1859. Thirteen months after their marriage, Friedrich deserted Auguste. He left a letter to Robert Anton Scherell of Warrnambool stating that he had left his wife and children, and that there was £350 in the bank for her.

He was followed back to Prussia by Gottlieb Peuker who returned to Australia to advise of Friedrich's death.

Caroline Auguste Kiefel was born circa 1832. Auguste was the daughter of Gottlieb Kiefel and Anna Rosina Kannblei.

Friedrich Wilhelm Fritsch immigrated to the Port Phillip District on March 7, 1849. Occupation: Cart Builder. Friedrich Fritsch arrived in Australia upon the "Wappaus", a ship of 304 tonnes, the ships captain being Captain Peteser. The ship carried 72 male adults, and 59 female adults, 31 male children and 29 female children. Following the names on the passenger list was the following declaration:

The above number and before named Emigrants have been forwarded by me in the ships from Hamburgh to Port Phillip, New South Wales, during the month of October, 1848, exclusive of cabin passengers, professional gentlemen, and artists, according to the prescription of the British Passengers' Act, and are all persons of good character, furnished with testimonials of their former superiors and spiritual leaders.(Signed)Edward Deluis Bremen, 3rd November, 1848

Friedrich Fritsch's calling given when he arrived in Port Phillip was that of a Cart Builder. His surname on the passenger list for the "Wappaus" was spelt with an "e" on the end of the name - Fristche. Before coming to Australia, he had informed authorities at the Land and Emmigration Commission that he was 25 years of age (he was 30 at the time) and was a labourer (not a cart builder). It is most likely that Friedrich met his future wife Dorothea Uebergang on their trip out to Australia as they both came on the "Wappaus" and married soon after arrival on July 10, 1849 at "Trawalla" Station at Beaufort near Ballarat. Witnesses to the marriage were Adolphus Goldsmith and Carl Samuel Uebergang. During the mid 1850's Friedrich and Dorothea acquired a property of their own as electoral records from that time show that Friedrich was enrolled in the electoral district of Villiers as a farmer holding freehold land at Wangoon. It is now known when Friedrich gained his naturalization, a prerequisite to the purchase of land. Friedrich and Dorothea raised six children, the last, Luise, dying in infancy. After Dorothea's death their children were left in the care of Dorothea's brothers' families at Allansford with Wilhelm at "Briarwood" taking the major responsibility. When Wilhelm left Allansford in 1870 for Drung Drung in the Wimmera the three boys, Frederick, Karl Eduard and John Charles, must have gone with him as their adult lives start in that area. The two eldest, Anna Maria and Augusta Caroline, were married before they, too, left Allansford for the Wimmera, Anna in 1871 and Augusta either in the same year or the next.
